Introducing the host (in Slovakian language): Názov tejto hudobnej akcie nesie v sebe meno mocného slovanského boha Perúna. Svarožičov oheň ešte stále tlie, nevyhasol napriek mnohým prekážkam a nespočetným nepriateľom. Bohovia, ktorí vdýchli život tejto zemi, sa stále prihovárajú tým, ktorí počúvajú.

Perunica Fest je hlavne pre tých, ktorí počúvajú spev i náreky rodnej zeme a ctia si dary i zákony Božstiev.

Skupiny, ktoré tu vystúpia, nehrajú len pre Vás, nehrajú len kvôli zábave či zisku. Svojou účasťou chcú symbolicky vzdať úctu rodným Bohom, duchom i

Introducing the host: Niburta was born from the fusion of ancient and modern music. The combination of technical shredding metalcore and ancient Magyar, Moldavian and Mongolian folkmusic resulted a fresh blast in today’s underground folk metal scene. The use of bagpipes, kavals, diverse whistles, kobza and violin combined with a harsh metal section equipped with heavily downtuned guitars and dual bass drums unleashing a massive wall of sound makes this band unique and energetic. Niburta’s moral aim is to bring back our forgotten ways of life by spreading the word with touching lyrical themes. Niburta is surely one of the most attractive European folk newcomers to the date!

Introducing the host: Clan of nine people is active on stages since September 2009. Characteristic sound of the band is imparted by stringed instruments (two violoncellos, violin) and folklore or medieval wind instruments (recorders, whistles, shawms, bagpipe). Songs of the band refer to legends from celtic regions but also give space to esoteric themes and mysticism. The band is refered as folk metal with medieval-like or Irish-like influences. That all in connection with very excentric frontman and energic show is plight of pure moshed set in which’s end you will fall by tideness. From the very first gigs clan became quickly popular among broad public and after less than one year of activity won status which allowed them to play summer festivals and support bands like Arkona or Skyforger. Now is released EP “AGNI – Unveil what’s burning inside” by Pařát magazine, Czech Republic. EP is also going to be released in it’s vinyl version. BeltineFest 2011 coming real!

Hey everyone! We announced that we will continue with making our SamhainFest, but since it was much better success than we expected, we realized to split the event for 2011 between two festivals – spring and autumnal one. Just remember, that first Samhainfest 2010 was performed in three countries across the Europe, three gigs which were visited by almost 600 people. Now you can get ready for BELTINEFEST 2011 which will happen also in three countries and which will attend four folkish bands – CRUADALACH (CZE), ZREC (CZE), STRIBOG (CRO) and NIBURTA (HUN). In next post we will start to unveil gig stops and introducing them as like last year in case of Samhainfest!

We invite you all for international pagan music! Come and enjoy!

Status Report: Samhainfest 2010 Germany

Number of paying visitors: 227 + guests

Date and venue: 5/11 2010, Alpha et Omega, Deggendorf, GER

Line up: Cruadalach (CZ, folk metal), Nothgard (DE, pagan metal), Heathen Foray (AT, pagan metal), Sacred Silence (DE, classic folk rock)

Info: The first Samhainfest Germany, which was hosted by the local band Nothgard, has experienced a great success. Over 240 people marched into the halls of Alpha et Omega filled with a great atmosphere. From the beginning of the first band to the last the crowd was into the music and celebrated the Celtic feast with pleasure. The small club in Deggendorf has probably never seen such a huge audience, banging their heads off and cheering for such great bands, especially because there was a need for a folk and pagan metal event like the Samhainfest in this region. Furthermore this event gives folk and pagan metal bands (especially the smaller bands) all over Europe the opportunity to visit new countries, new cities and to represent their country. It’s great success in Czech Republic, Slovenia and Germany is hopefully just the beginning of a growing tradition in this scene.

Viktor Dick, Nothgard’s bassguitar player

Status Report: Samhainfest 2010 Slovenia

Number of paying visitors: over 100 + guests

Date and venue: 6/11 2010, KUD France Prešeren, Ljubljana, SLO

Line up: Cruadalach (CZE, folk metal), Brezno (SLO, folk metal), Mlë!!! (SLO, folk rock), Sagaris (SLO, melodic death)

Info: Samhainfest 2010 Slovenia was hosted by band Brezno. As bands from SLO, we all liked the idea to have something like some folk metal night, so this was a very nice event for all of us – bands were happy and liked the responde of public. This will be certainly a cue for Slovenian folk metal bands to prepare some more events in this way with something we started this night.
Visitors were happy to be there – they liked the concert and pozitive energy that we (all together) created. My opinion is that the true folk metal fans are very pleased to have a chance to listen to type of music they like and to hear it from Slovenian bands and also guests from foregin countries.

Inez Osina, Brezno

Introducing the host: Top band on Slovenian folk metal scene, grounded in 2007. They sing about old times and their musical heritage is full of references to roots from which rises Slovenian folklore and it’s melodiousness and poetics, which is naturally close to all Slavonic nations though. Music is done with hard guitar riffs, gentle melodies of flute and beautiful woman vocals supported by violin and keyboard. Characteristic sound of the band and catchy songs guarantee distinct experience and 100% action. In their homeland band plays on biggest heavy-metal festivals.

Introducing the host: Young ambitious band from Bavarian Deggendorf playing virtuous viking symphonic pagan metal, grounded in 2008. Their epic songs send you back to ancient times. For their creation is significant high preciseness with technical guitar solos and perfect coordination so everyone can be carried by their masterful and energic show. Everyone who can appreciate innovative pagan metal will addict to this heathen blast. Gig at this year´s Metalfest Austria or recent signing to label and agency Black Bards proves apparent qualities of this clan. At the beginning of 2011 the band will release their debut CD.
